Capitol Steel Structures has officially begun work at Marathon International Airport, providing structural steel fabrication and erection for Million Air’s new fixed-base operator (FBO) terminal, a major investment that will further enhance aviation infrastructure in the Florida Keys.

The project marks another milestone for Capitol Steel Structures as the company continues to deliver structural steel solutions for high-profile commercial developments across Florida. From in-house steel fabrication to precision on-site installation, the team is supplying the structural framework for a facility engineered to withstand the demanding coastal environment of the Keys.

Million Air’s new terminal is a $4 million, 5,460-square-foot facility designed to replace the original business aviation terminal that was destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017. The two-story building embraces the spirit of island hospitality with a seamless indoor-outdoor design while incorporating resilient construction materials capable of enduring coastal wind loads and corrosive marine conditions.

Once completed, the new FBO will feature a pilot lounge with flight-planning facilities, a conference room, refreshment bar, crew cars, a full-service outdoor restaurant and bar, and U.S. Customs clearance. The development also includes more than 10,000 square feet of landscaped green space, creating an inviting environment for both pilots and visitors.
